Matthew helped me navigate a large and particularly complex commercial property acquisition, which we intended to convert into a predominantly residential scheme while retaining office space on the ground floor. 

 

There were several aspects of the transaction that were completely new to me, particularly around the commercial tenants in situ, their differing lease arrangements, and a telecoms operator occupying part of the roof. Each presented its own challenges and potential risks.

He helped me navigate several stressful and potentially very costly situations, always considering not just the legal position but the wider commercial implications.

Matthew maintained constructive communication with the seller’s solicitor, helping to keep the seller comfortable and the transaction progressing. He also handled some delicate situations involving the commercial broker extremely well, maintaining goodwill while protecting our position.
